What is canon FOR YOU?

Canon, as far as the original series goes, is anything that Toriyama intends to be part or a continuation of his original work. Whether or not it's consistent or something doesn't matter. That's not what canon is all about. This isn't like a buffet table where you pick and choose what you want and don't want to be part of the main meal. People make the claim that since Toriyama contradicts himself later on, we shouldn't treat this work as canon.

That's not how it works my friends. If Toriyama intends for the new material to be canon, then frankly this now takes priority over what was said last time. Its his work, he's allowed to create the rules and regulations surrounding his own series. Whether this makes sense or contradicts previous actions does not matter.

Non-canon would be when the non-original creator adds something. Anything Toei Animation adds without Toriyama's consent and to be included as part of his original material would be considered non-canon.

Take for example this. Super Boo should not revert into Kid Boo. Aku Boo absorbed Good Boo and became Super Boo. Good Boo go taken out of Super Boo which should logically revert him back to Aku Boo. Instead what do we get? We get a completely new character.

Just because of this contradiction doesn't make Kid Boo non-canon now does he?

Toriyama doesn't know what canon means. And if he does, then he never mentioned it. So no, he didn't intend for the new material to be "canon".

I consider practically everything canon to the overall franchise. The question is where do certain things reasonably fit, from a multiverse perspective. This is how I see everything fitting:

Anything in the anime that does not conflict with the manga is canon for me.

Anime and manga are two different forms of entertainment. If you love television, I do not think one should be held in higher esteem than the other, just because the manga came first.

Nevertheless, I respect those who value the source material.
We Super Saiyans are in a league of our own.

I think it's just easier to split them into different canons:

Manga Canon
Anime Canon
Guidebook Canon
Game Canon
Movie Canon (Since movies don't fit in with the anime a lot of the time)

Toriyama canon (Which is the manga, Toriyama interviews, arguably BoG, RoF and Super...anything Toriyama wrote).

I think that's kind of silly because what would be the need to even use the word canon anymore?

There isn't a need...there was never a need. Dragon Ball's purely a form of entertainment, one that has no official "canon". When are you ever going to need to know what's canon to enjoy the franchise? And if it's as part of a debate, then just use whichever canon the material comes from - so if you're talking about the manga use manga canon (and maybe Toriyama canon), if you're talking about the anime use anime canon.

I have it like this...

1. The Manga.

2. Interviews that doesn't contradict anything in the Manga it's self.

3. Guidebooks.

4. Anime and all Movies, even the recent ones.

For the Movies I do place them in a completely different timeline, where things that wasn't possible and/or couldn't be done in the main timeline exist, or elements missing from the main timeline.

Well, what I'm telling you is that you wouldn't even need to say manga "canon". You just say "according to manga", "according to anime" an so forth.
Because the word "canon" I believe means "the proper, the norm, the original".
Anyway, besides that, what you're saying is what I was trying to say with this topic. That there is no "canon", it's whatever you want it to be.
And that's why it was created, as a non-strict and purely entertaining series.

Video games, Beckett magazines, TCG, and anime filler. The rest is invisible.
Was gonna post this but Pyrus took the words out of my mouth. He forgot to mention the old Dragonball PSA's that used to air in Japan but I digress.
